Three women share stories of love, loss and healing

Each weekend thousands of people take to the streets of our communities, walking and running to raise money for charities. Every one of them has found a cause to believe in, a bit of hope through helping. And every one of them has a reason for being there.

To remember.

Those gathering on Saturday, Oct. 17, along Naperville's Riverwalk will Walk to Remember the babies they dreamed of, prepared for, felt kick, named and loved but lost - all before the infants could take their first breaths.

A Walk to Remember encourages families who have experienced stillbirth and other prenatal loss to openly honor and celebrate their children.

The walk itself raises money for the Wings of Hope Angel Garden at Edward Hospital and the hospital foundation's SHARE Program, which provides resources and support for families who have lost a baby. Work begins this fall to create the garden, intended as a place for reflection and hope for grieving families.

Today, three women - Michelle Bohn and Gretchen Self of Naperville and Carrie Wrona of Plainfield - share their stories of love and loss and explain why they will Walk to Remember.
