What's wrong with voting for a Muslim?

Last year before the presidential election I was attending a funeral in Tennessee. One person there said Obama was a Muslim and therefore would not vote for him. My impression is that calling Obama a Muslim is another way of saying that she would not vote for Obama because he was black.

While many people are Christians because they were brought to church when they were young by their parents, Obama is in reality a voluntary convert to Christianity in early adulthood and certainly, unlike may who attend church, a true believer in the Christian religion. Anyone such as Obama who believes the highly improbable story of Christ being the son of God, born of a virgin and the path to eternal salvation, must be a true believer. Everyone in America knows the real story of Obama's Christianity. Unfortunately, there are still people in America who would not vote for a person because he is black. Besides, what is wrong with voting for a Muslim? I am a secular humanist.
