Prospect third in Centennial Invite

Fresh off its second straight Mid-Suburban League girls golf title at the Schaumburg Golf Club, Prospect competed Saturday on the University of Illinois Golf Course in the Centennial Invite in Champaign.

The Knights finished with a score of 337, good for third place behind defending Class AA state champ Marion (314) and New Trier (316).

Sophomore Allison Walsh (eighth place) led the Knights with a score of 81 on the par-74 Illini course.

She was followed by classmate Christine Garmoe (82), senior Karly Grouwinkel (84) and junior Rachel Lawless (85).

Next up for the Knights is Wednesday's Class AA Conant regional to be played at Fox Run Golf Course in Elk Grove.

Prospect's last regional title under coach Jim Hamann was in 2005. The Knights were second to New Trier in the Deerfield regional a year ago.
