Scouting Wheeling @ Buffalo Grove

Wheeling (2-3, 0-1) at Buffalo Grove (3-2, 1-0)

When 7:30 p.m. today

Last week Wheeling lost to Elk Grove 35-6; Buffalo Grove d. Prospect 39-33

Outlook Buffalo Grove looks to avoid any trap from the hoopla of last week's big win over Prospect and homecoming this week. "Obviously our big focus is to try and keep an eye on (this) week," said BG coach Jim Farrell. "We go from one extreme with the Miles (Osei) air-raid attack to Wheeling being patient on the ground and running the option. With (Weston) Ross back, that adds an explosive player into that backfield." BG senior RB-DB Kevin Mulligan didn't play the second half last week with cramps but will be ready to go with other dual threats John Angotti and Mike Cornely. Wheeling looks to snap a three-game losing streak and was hurt last week by empty red-zone possessions and defensive breakdowns against Elk Grove QB Nick Meyer. "BG played very well against Prospect," said Wheeling coach Dave Dunbar. "Offensively they capitalized on some of (Prospect's) mistakes and they play hard and play fast. I was impressed." Wheeling has won the last two of a series BG leads 25-10.
