Outlook Richmond-Burton looks to be the heavy in the Big Northern-East race, but Central intends to put up a good fight in this battle of the Rockets. "It's our homecoming, so our guys will be ready to play for sure," Central coach Aaron Wichman said. "It's a Big Northern game and we take a lot of pride in representing ourselves well in the conference. I guess you could say on paper that if we won it would be an upset, but our guys every year are trying to be conference champions so this would be the next step in trying to achieve that as well." Central tailback Tre Llanes carried the ball 23 times last week for 123 yards and a touchdown. His emergence and that of a young but improving offense gives Central reason for optimism against experienced, athletic Richmond-Burton, which reached the semifinals in Class 4A last season. "We're a pretty young team, but by Week 6 those guys have gotten a lot of experience and I think they're pretty comfortable playing with each other," Wichman said. "We've progressed nicely offensively."
