Pair plead not guilty in Round Lake Park pot bust
Two men arrested with $10,000 worth of marijuana after a routine traffic stop in Round Lake Park pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lake County Circuit Court.
Denyell Little and John Hood, both 31, face up to five years in prison if convicted of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
Assistant State's Attorney Matt Demartini said the men were in a car near the intersection of Washington Street and Hainesville Road just before 11 a.m. on Aug. 6. A Round Lake Park police K-9 officer stopped the car for illegal lane usage and noticed the men were acting nervous, Demartini said.
The officer had his dog check out the car, and the car was searched after the dog indicated the presence of drugs.
Police found six one-pound bags of marijuana in the trunk, Demartini said, and estimated the street value of the find at $10,000.
Associate Judge George Bridges scheduled a trial of the case for Nov. 16 and ordered Little, of Chicago, to appear in court Oct. 20.
Hood, of Waukegan, has another court date set for Oct. 22.
