Hoffman Estates man fights off home invaders
Police are searching for two men who broke into a home Wednesday afternoon in Hoffman Estates while a resident was inside.
The 41-year-old man at the home fought with the suspects before they escaped, Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Greg Poulos said.
Police were called at 12:45 p.m. to the 1300 block of Rebecca Drive. The men entered through an open rear screen door, and one of them left a plastic handgun at the home, Poulos said.
The man in the home suffered a minor bruise in the scuffle, but nothing was taken, Poulos added.
Both suspects are described as in their mid-20s and black. One was about 6 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build and wearing a black shirt and black pants. The other was described only as wearing a white T-shirt and black pants. The men might have driven away in a gold-colored station wagon from the late 1980s or early 1990s.
