Many due thanks for Prairie Days
The president of the Lombard Garden Club, Patricia Poskocil, and its members wish to thank and show appreciation for all of those who helped plan, organize and participate in the sixth annual Prairie Days celebration held on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Terrace View Park in Lombard.
The event could not have been a success without the many, many people who supported it: Lonnie Morris, Prairie Days event chairwoman, along with her committee members, Jenny Swensen and Elizabeth Alderman, worked diligently throughout the year to plan events and select vendors suitable for the prairie theme of the event. Exceptional collaboration took place among the three sponsors - the Lombard Garden Club, park district and historical society - to create an exciting, educational, and family-based event for attendees of all ages.
Many thanks to the vendors, organizations, businesses, and volunteers who gave their time educating, entertaining, feeding, and otherwise inspiring those who visited the event to focus on the environment, its conservation and the native Illinois prairie.
Lonnie Morris is to be congratulated for her long-term vision of restoring Terrace View Park to its original prairie state and providing 11 years of leadership and mentoring required to see the project through. As a garden club member, Ms. Morris fostered a positive work relationship with the park district to carry out her vision. Work continues at Terrace View Park with the aid of money raised at Prairie Days.
