Algonquin man survives 'Biggest Loser' again

Tuesday's edition of "The Biggest Loser" was a night of backstabbing, lies and arbitrary decisions.

But none of it involved our man Julio Gomez, 40, of Algonquin, and he still has a shot at becoming $250,000 richer.

Gomez dropped seven pounds during week three, dubbed the week of choices.

Those seven pounds were enough to carry him into next week - he has shed a total of 39 pounds thus far.

"The only thing you can control here is how you work out and how you eat," Gomez said on the show.

Moreover, fellow contestant Tracey Yukich has replaced Gomez as the most hated person in the house.

Yukich demonstrated a clear lack of willpower in the name of absolute control over the week's proceedings.

She decided she and her partner would forgo working out with the trainers in exchange for a two-pound credit at the weigh-in.

And by inhaling four cupcakes during a challenge meant to test resisting temptation, Yukich got to select which member of each team would have their weight loss count for the entire team.

Because Gomez's partner got voted off the first week, this part of the game didn't affect him.

But he lost a shot at immunity during another challenge and so the pressure was still on to perform.

In the end, Yukich's choices put the contestants in a painful position during the elimination.

They voted to send the red team home over the orange team that includes Shay Sorrels, saying Sorrells, the biggest person in the show's history at 476 pounds, needed to stay longer.
