Hanover Park picnic canceled due to high winds

The Hanover Park Police Department's COPS Day Picnic scheduled for tonight has been canceled due to extreme weather conditions and a high wind advisory in the area.

The free event will now take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Community Park, located near Church Street and Maple Avenue.

The department is hosting the picnic in an effort to foster better relationships with members of the community and to encourage residents to get to know their neighbors.

Entertainment includes face painting, Parky the Clown, a police canine demonstration and, weather permitting, a police vehicle and helicopter display.
