Cops, track employees back on diamond for charity
The ninth annual charity softball game between the Arlington Park racetrack and the Arlington Heights Police Department will be played at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 - right before Autumn Harvest fest kicks off.
The game will be held on the Arlington Park softball field on Rohlwing Road and is sponsored by Arlington Park Racecourse, the Levy Organization and the Arlington Heights Noon Rotary Club.
Raffles will be held and food and drink will be for sale to support the cause. Raffle tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $10 and 10 for $20.
Fans are encouraged to go from the game to Autumn Harvest Fest, held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at North School Park.
The 2009 softball game will benefit the Finnerty Children's Higher Education Fund, a 529 account that will help insure their future education. Make checks payable to Bright Start Savings-Finnerty Children. The children lost their parents and brother in a tragic fire this past June.
Bring a bag of cat or dog food and receive a free raffle ticket. The Buddy Foundation, a no kill shelter in Arlington Heights, will get the food. Checks made out directly to the Buddy Foundation will also be accepted.
