Arts show gets advance screening:

A sneak preview of the fifth season of Art: 21 -Art in the Twenty-First Century, the only prime time national television series focused exclusively on contemporary art, will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at South Middle School, 400 S. Highland, Arlington Heights.

The event is free and open to the public. The show's season begins Oct. 7 on public television stations. The school is one of the few chosen for a preview showing.

Educators who attend will have an opportunity to discuss how to use the program content with students. Art21 Access '09 is an international screening initiative created to increase knowledge of contemporary art, ignite dialogue and inspire creative thinking through events that tailor the ideas presented in the series to the interests and concerns of local audiences.

A list of Art21 Access '09 events and venues is at art21.org/access09.
