Antioch man accused of possessing marijuana
An Antioch man was ordered held on $75,000 bond Saturday after being arrested with more than a pound of marijuana.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Jason Grindell said Fred Rhines Jr., 42, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of possession of marijuana and other charges.
Grindell said Antioch police served a search warrant on Rhines' residence in the 300 block of Park Avenue on Friday evening. Inside police found 139 small bags of marijuana weighing just over 20 ounces, Grindell said.
Police also seized a small amount of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and more than $1,000 in cash during the raid, Grindell said.
In addition to the marijuana charge, Grindell said Rhines is charged with possession of cocaine and obstructing a police officer for struggling with police as they entered his residence.
Associate Judge Christopher Stride set the bond, which requires Rhines to post $7,500 in cash for his release, and ordered him to appear in court again Sept. 29.
