Health care critics are helping society

President Obama's new health care plan, which he is so desperate to have passed would be basically government controlled, including the oversight of who gets what care. This concerns many Americans when they think of the possibility of loved ones not receiving needed, expensive or unusual treatment because of age or other handicaps. They have expressed their concern most vehemently. Of course, the left blames conservatives for exacerbating this concern.

Now, picture this; The president, a Democrat, hoping to subdue the public's negative response, earnestly insisting to concerned citizens that an indifferent, apathetic panel will not withhold treatment, causing death.

Wasn't it a short time ago that another president, also a Democrat, shook his finger at the cameras and just as sincerely declared, "I did not have sex with that woman"?

The facts repudiated that denial. Now some of this president's own past statements cast doubt on his veracity. Even though his denial is dramatic, past comments lend credibility to an underlying truth in the alleged accusation, not easing the fears of the public.

Perhaps the American people are not so willing to believe a declaration when evidence is present to cause skepticism, particularly when the quality and very continuation of life is at risk. All sorts of politicians, some not so noble, nor concerned with the population's best interest, have been elected to high office, so it is no small wonder that a healthy skepticism has developed, clearly not appreciated by those who are in power. I applaud those who question and are concerned. Without them, George Orwell's fiction could become a near reality.
