Group tracks leaders with economic sense
Funding of the capital bill, which is necessary to create jobs, repair our roads and bridges, and stimulate the economy, is in jeopardy because local governments are not signing on to video gaming as predicted. Lawmakers from both parties are scratching their heads saying things like "the money has to come from somewhere." What they fail to understand, and what makes taxpayers cringe, is the fact that we've already paid for it!
Over the last eight years state spending has increased at a rate of ten times the rate of population growth. Plenty of money has been paid into the system, but our elected officials have an insatiable appetite and have squandered it on programs that ensure their re-election. Can't they come up with anything more sustainable and constructive than gimmicks that extract money from the dwindling number of us that pay taxes? I am a proud member of Americans for Prosperity (AFP). AFP has in its mission statement: "To educate citizens about economic policy (and) achieve fiscal and regulatory restraint by state governments." Since our leaders are incapable of understanding that the money they keep wasting must be earned by someone, AFP can help citizens understand which candidates embrace sound economic judgment.
