Warren High has new board member

Michael Munda is now a board member at Warren Township High School in Gurnee.

Munda, 45, of Gurnee, replaces veteran board member Roberta Pfeiffer, who quit last month. Munda was one of seven candidates who applied for the board position at Warren District 121. He ran for a 4-year seat in the April election but finished last out of six candidates.

Pfeiffer had nearly two years remaining in her term when she resigned Aug. 18. She claimed in a letter she was concerned some board members have individual agendas.

Munda is principal of the Lake County Regional Office of Education's alternative school. He's coached youth football and basketball in Lake County for more than 20 years.

In the campaign for the April election, Munda's goals included a desire to work to strengthen District 121's curriculum and activities to ensure students are being adequately challenged so they have a chance to compete and succeed in the future.

His appointment was ratified by a 6-0 vote last week.
