What's wrong with silent lunch?
I'm amazed that parents are outraged that their children had to eat their lunch in silence "after students exhibited rowdy and disrespectful behavior."
They should be outraged that the students are being disrespectful. Just sit in a classroom or lunchroom for a day and you'll be amazed. Of course, not every student is guilty, but when the majority is causing a problem, something needs to be done to get their attention.
Yes, the kids are full of energy and need to release it, but do it outside on the playground and give some respect back to the teachers. They deserve it.
