River Trails schools considering grade level centers

Residents and employees of River Trail Elementary District 26 are invited to an Oct. 1 meeting to discuss turning the district's schools into grade level centers, where all children of the same grade level attend the same school.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at River Trails Middle School, 1000 N. Wolf Road, Mount Prospect.

People attending will be asked for questions that should be put to the consultant studying the idea; the consultant also will outline the scope of the study and timeline for its conclusion.

One possible grade level center scenario would have all pre-K, 1st and 2nd graders in "School A;" all 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in "School B" and all 6, 7 and 8th graders at River Trails Middle School, where they already are.
