2 accused of vandalizing state park
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Authorities in southern Illinois' Perry County are accusing two men of using stolen semi tractors to knock down cinderblock restroom buildings at a state park.
Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman says 20-year-old Christopher Phillips and 18-year-old Jerry Patterson of Tamaroa are charged with possessing a stolen vehicle and criminal damage to state property.
Investigators say the men twice stole semi trucks from Perry County businesses and used them to ram the restrooms at Pyramid State Park, causing more than $40,000 in damage.
Phillips and Patterson were arrested Tuesday. Both remained jailed Thursday.
It isn't immediately clear if they have attorneys.
