Never saw 'RENT'? Now's your chance

Following last season's successful collaboration for "On Golden Pond," Big Noise Theatre Company and Ouroboros Theatre Company once again join forces to present the premiere local production of "RENT," Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical.

"RENT" will be performed at The Prairie Lakes Theater, 515 E. Thacker St., Des Plaines on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Sept. 25 through Oct. 18; curtain is 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays (except 1 p.m. Sept. 27).

"RENT" ran for 12 years and 5,124 performances on Broadway, and is credited with being the musical that renewed interest in musical theater for younger audiences.

"RENT" uses dance, pop, rock 'n roll, R&B and salsa to tell an emotional tale about one year or "525,600 minutes" in the life of a community of young artists living in New York's East Village. Based on Puccini's "La Boheme," Rent mixes the classic themes of love and loss, pain and hope and a need to belong with an energetic score and contemporary attitude.

Cast members are Cory Stonebrook, James Gavin, Bear Bellinger, Jeffrey Stringer, Kelli Clevenger, Tiffany Trainer, Emilie Frake Lynn, Dwayne Everett Johnson, Jake Autizen, Kathleen Dennis, Angela Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Jennifer Noble, Elizabeth Mazur, Mark Kosten, Mario Mazzetti, Joe Rosenmayer and Jimmy Lis.
