Don't forget, Obama inherited this mess
It's interesting to watch the Republicans address the national deficit, health care reform and talk about financial accountability. Do they think the public has forgotten?
Have we forgotten that the Republicans inherited a huge surplus following President Clinton's term in office? Have we forgotten the tax cuts they passed that led to that surplus disappearing and a huge deficit? Have we forgotten the $1 trillion war in Iraq that we were misled into? Have we forgotten the near-collapse of our financial system at the end of the Republicans reign due to the feeding at the trough of unregulated financial organizations on their watch?
President Obama did what he had to do to rescue us. Does anyone think that a total financial collapse would have been better than a deficit had he not acted?
Don't forget these things. The Republicans are trying to mislead everyone into thinking they are the party of smaller government and fiscal responsibility. They are not! The untruths, distortions and outbursts should be watched closely. Don't buy it and don't think they have a better plan - they do not.
One last thought - if we can come up with $1 trillion for war, we can come up with $900 billion for health care coverage for all Americans and release the grip and dictatorial stance the insurance companies play in all our lives.
Please don't forget.
