Shaw plans run for Cook assessor

Former Cook County Board of Review commissioner and Chicago alderman Robert Shaw plans to announce he'll run for Cook County assessor.

Shaw has scheduled an announcement for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the South Loop Hotel, 11 W. 26th St., Chicago.

He put out a statement Tuesday blasting Board of Review Commissioner Joseph Berrios, who has already announced he'll run for assessor, and ordering him to "come clean" about his efforts lobbying for video poker and the ongoing Cook County state's attorney probe into alleged corruption in his office involving reassessments for political cronies.

Shaw previously served as alderman for Chicago's Ninth Ward.
