Moms to meet

Moms Connected, a program for mothers of adolescent and teenage children, will meet at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Geneva's West Campus, 3435 Keslinger Road. Hike for Hospice

The Hike for Hospice, a 5K walk along the Fox River to honor loved ones, is at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Ave., Batavia. All registered walkers will receive a T-shirt, and there will be face painting, massages, refreshments, and prizes for the top fundraisers. The fee is $25 for those 13 and older, $15 for ages 7 to 12, free for 6 and younger. Proceeds go to Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice. Register at fvvh.org, call (630) 232-2233, or e-mail info@fvvh.org.

Join women's chorus

Misty River Music Makers, a local women's chorus, is hosting its "Fall Friendship and Fun" guest night at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Park National Bank, 808 W. State St., Geneva. Beginning genealogy

The Geneva History Center and Kane County Genealogical Society will co-host "A Beginner's Guide to Genealogy" from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St. A genealogy librarian will present two seminars for novices. Cost is $10 for members of the center or society, $15 for others. Farm rentals available

Fox Valley Park District's Blackberry Farm is available for after-hour rentals from 5 to 7 p.m. weekends and selected week nights. Located at 100 S. Barnes Road, Aurora, the farm offers train rides, a hay wagon and carousel, fishing in Lake Gregory, picnic tables and more. Groups of all sizes can use the grounds for parties, picnics, family reunions and Scout outings. Rentals are available through Oct. 31. Call (630) 892-1550.
