Lombard to unveil Metra station makeover

Lombard officials will celebrate improvements to their downtown Metra station with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Oct. 1.

The project, funded by a tax increment financing district, included outside work to replace the roof and construct a new clock tower.

Crews also added a new security system, installed a plasma TV for patrons' viewing, improved the restrooms and painted the entire interior.

An independent coffee vendor opened shop this week.
