Tomato contest a real prize

The 12th annual tomato contest this year was a wonderful success. It was held Aug. 15, during the weekly Farmer's Market in East Dundee, sponsored by the Dundee Township Visitor's Center. Twenty-two tomatoes were entered for prizes totaling over $1,100. As in the past, we had all sizes, shapes and colors of tomatoes. This contest, thanks to many area restaurants and businesses, rewards winners with possibly the greatest value in prizes for a tomato than anywhere else in entire Fox Valley. The visitor's center is proud to be able to bring this special event to our community. Many thanks to the many businesses involved for their support.

Hope to see you for our annual pumpkin contest Oct. 31.
