Naperville man charged with trying to poison neighbor's dogs
Naperville police have arrested a man they say tried to poison his neighbor's three dogs.
The pets, two 5-year-old basset hounds and a 2-year-old collie, were not harmed.
William J. Carboni, 43, of 2923 Stonewater Drive, is accused of placing raw meat with rodent poison in his neighbor's backyard on Sept. 2, Cmdr. Mike Anders said Friday.
"The victim indicated he had conversations before with this particular neighbor on each of the dogs barking," Anders said.
The dogs' owner, who lives on the 2900 block of Cedar Glade Drive, noticed suspicious looking meat in his yard and took the dogs to an animal hospital for preventive care.
Police previously had received three complaints about the dogs but deemed them unfounded.
Carboni has been charged with attempted aggravated cruel treatment of animals, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was arrested Thursday and taken to the police department's detention facility. He posted 10 percent of his $2,500 bail and was released.
Carboni is due Oct. 14 in Will Court court.
