Driver rolls over on Route 53
Traffic backed up for a little more than a mile Saturday afternoon after a woman was involved in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Route 53 near Northwest Highway.
Cook County sheriff's police spokeswoman Lisa Gordon said the incident happened about 2:30 p.m. after a tire blew out on the driver's Isuzu Rodeo.
The woman, who was not ticketed, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Gordon said.
Palatine and Rolling Meadows fire trucks and ambulances were sent to the crash scene and did not allow traffic to proceed for a while.
Traffic at one point was backed up for more than a mile from Northwest Highway before Route 53 eventually reopened in that area.
