Faith community should speak up
The twisted chains of private insurance corporate greed, thoughtless political thought and hate-filled selfish talk have been tightened around the pre-existing gifts of compassion and healing.
Church leaders, who depend on tax-exempt revenue from wealthy churchgoers, have thus far chosen to remain silent.
Is health care cost reduction going to be denied to the poor and trashed like an unopened gift box containing a beautiful open blossom shaped like a living floral chalice. Will the greedy and untruthful fear of the rich continue to assist in what amounts to the euthanasia of the poor and the death of the gift of the living calyx?
Swept out from the shore of common sense by the riptide of well-funded opposition warning of falsehoods like abortion funding and death panels, we are forced to swim through waves of ocean tears of what God sees in our treatment of the poor and suffering. It is Almighty-God-Made-Man whose public option was to identify with the poor, publicly heal the sick, preach and embody peace, love and forgiveness and share everything with us from the first heartbeat in the womb to the final breath of death.
