Sox hope for tweet success with special event for fans
The White Sox are inviting Twitter users ("Tweeps") to a White Sox Tweet-Up at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday.
The Sox host the Kansas City Royals in a game at 7:11 p.m., and fans who purchase a Tweet-Up package will join former White Sox player Ron Kittle, White Sox vice president of communications Scott Reifert and Sox mascot Southpaw, along other Twitter followers, for a two-hour pregame party in The Patio.
The Tweet-Up, the first Major League Baseball Tweet-Up since Twitter's inception in 2006, will allow Twitter users to meet and network.
The event features a specially priced package that includes a Patio party ticket and a Lower Reserved game ticket for $59. Fans who already have purchased tickets to the game may obtain tickets for only the Patio Party for $31, which includes an all-you-can eat buffet menu catered by Bertucci Buffet, featuring BBQ ribs, hamburgers, Cajun chicken, fried chicken, hot dogs, side salads, Pepsi products, Miller beer products and wine for two hours, starting at 5:30 p.m., when ballpark gates open.
