'Curtains' opens in Palatine Saturday

"Curtains," the 2007 smash Broadway musical comedy whodunit from the creators of "Chicago" and "Cabaret," will be presented by LZP Productions weekends from Saturday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 4, at Cutting Hall in Palatine.

The show is making its Northwest suburban debut, with LZP Productions the first company in the area to secure the rights to the show.

The story revolves around a Broadway-bound musical whose leading lady is mysteriously murdered onstage. The case is assigned to a seemingly bumbling detective who just happens to love musicals.

"Curtains" is a described as a sendup of old-time backstage murder mysteries set in the Fifties, the golden age of musicals.

The cast includes Dustin Rothbart and Julie Koerner of Northbrook; Zachary Clark, Kirsten Markham and Jacob Szczesniak of Des Plaines; Gary Gruebnau of Crystal Lake; JoEllyn Romano of Elmhurst; Ashley Stricker-Peter of Schaumburg; and Claudia Di Biccari of Vernon Hills.

The show opens Saturday and runs through Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays at Cutting Hall, 150 E Wood Street, Palatine.
