Scouting: St. Viator @ Joliet Catholic

St. Viator (3-0, 1-0) at Joliet Catholic (2-1, 1-0)

When 7:30 p.m. Friday at Joliet Memorial Stadium

Last week St. Viator d. St. Patrick 52-14; Joliet Catholic d. Nazareth 51-21

Outlook Is the 25th time the charm for St. Viator to finally finish on the plus side of the scoreboard against the perennial state powerhouse? The Lions hope their time is here with QB Julian Sipiora, WR Richard McLoughlin and WR Jake Mastrangeli leading an offense that has been getting better each week. RB Pat O'Malley is out again this week (ankle) but sophomore Joey Yruegas stepped in to rush for 101 yards and a TD. "I thought we played a good game last week," said Viator coach Chris Kirkpatrick. The Hilltoppers also got back on track after scoring 26 points the first two games by going back to the double-wing with freshman Ty Isaac (167 yards, 2 TDs), Jordan Lyles (132 yards) and Malin Jones (126 yards) leading the way to 639 total yards. But they can also throw with sophomore QB Anthony Maddie and junior WR Alex Kolodziej and senior MLB Jake Stockman leads the way defensively. "They are really fast and have a lot of depth at running back," Kirkpatrick said. "(Stockman) is very good and gets to the ball."
