Scouting: Lake Zurich @ Libertyville
Lake Zurich (2-1, 1-0) at Libertyville (1-2, 0-1)
When 7:30 p.m.
Last week Lake Zurich def. Zion-Benton, 47-7; Libertyville lost to Lake Forest, 38-28.
Outlook Good thing Lake Zurich and Libertyville will be wearing uniforms. Otherwise, it might be tough to tell the two teams apart. "It's going to be kind of like we're playing ourselves," Lake Zurich coach Bryan Stortz said. "They run a similar offense to us-and defense. They run an odd-front defense, and we do, too. And they run a version of the Wing-T with three backs in the backfield like we do. They've been able to run the football really well this year and we've been running well, too." Last week against Lake Forest, Libertyville rolled up 457 yards of offense, of which 325 yards came on the ground. Kevin Penny rolled up 150 yards and James Zotto added another 90 yards to that. "That was one of our best rushing game in a while," Libertyville coach Randy Kuceyeski said. "We've got to keep that up. Thursday is going to be huge for us. This game is going to be pivotal in terms of what we can do for the rest of the season."-With two losses already, Libetyville doesn't want to get a third at this early point of the season. Lake Zurich, which rolled up 329 rushing yards last week thanks in large part to Jacob Brinlee (126 yards), has righted the ship after suffering a loss on Opening Night to Fremd. "We're a very young team," Stortz said. "We start three sophomores on defense and in Week 1, our entire offensive line was made up of junior newcomers. But we've grown up a lot since then and have been playing a lot better." The Bears have since gotten veteran offensive lineman Collin Lennon back from a knee injury. He missed the first game but has started the last two.
