Last week BG lost to Palatine 28-24; Hoffman Estates lost to Elk Grove 48-7
Outlook BG is looking to break what coach Jim Farrell called "the two-game heartbreak skid" after an OT loss to Barrington and last week's fourth-quarter comeback by Palatine. "The kids are playing tough and are in ballgames with good teams," Farrell said. "We just need to finish games." John Angotti provided an offensive spark to complement the running of Kevin Mulligan and Mike Garrity last week and DL Mark Zdanewicz had 14 tackles. Hoffman hopes to get QB David Gutierrez (foot) back this week in what coach Bill Helzer said would be a game-time decision. The Hawks got jumped on in a 34-point first quarter last week as they committed 7 turnovers and were also hurt by penalties. "We have wiped the slate clean and are starting fresh," said Hoffman coach Bill Helzer. "We're looking forward to the quick turnaround and hop we can get mentally ready to play. Our goal is to not beat ourselves." BG's 24-7 win last year was its fourth straight in a series it leads 12-2.
