Lake Zurich's TreeHouse to open Saturday

An indoor play facility in Lake Zurich is set to open just in time for winter when parents with younger children are looking for an escape.

The Lake Zurich TreeHouse, an indoor play structure, opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

The 7,700-square-foot facility offers children a multilevel climbing structure with swinging bridges, enclosed slides, padded mats and ramps, swings and soft basketball court.

Michele Balaka owns the business. It's the second one of its kind. The other, in Chelsea, Mich., was named Nickelodeon's 2008 "Parents Pick Best Indoor Play Place" in Michigan.

The business is also parent friendly with leather couches, free Wi-Fi and a cafe. The TreeHouse, at 985 S. Rand Road next to Aldi, also features healthy snacks, sandwiches, fruits and juices. The gourmet cafe offers parents healthy options as well, including a smoked turkey sandwich with homemade guacamole, cheese, organic tomatoes on light rye. Birthday parties can also be held at the new business.

Admission for children is $10. Children can come and go throughout the day once they pay the $10 admission. There is no charge for parents or infants. For more, check out thechelseatreehouse.com.
