Grainger's green effort awarded
LAKE FOREST - Grainger, a distributor of facilities maintenance supplies, announced that its corporate headquarters at 100 Grainger Parkway, has been awarded the LEED Gold green building certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute.
LEED certification of Grainger's headquarters was based on a number of green design and construction features such as energy, lighting, water and material use that positively affect the project itself and the broader community.
By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings are said to save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.
