Naperville's Parker grabs more honors, rebound title

Deanna Nolan of the Detroit Shock and Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks were named the WNBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively.

Parker, who finished the season as the WNBA's leading rebounder, earned the weekly honor after averaging 16.3 points, a league-leading 13.7 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, and 2.3 assists. She led her team to a 3-0 week, including wins over San Antonio and Phoenix.

On the season, Parker averaged 13.1 points, 9.8 rebounds (best in the league), 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks. She led the WNBA in double-doubles with 15 despite missing eight games at the beginning of the season due to the birth of her first child.

For Nolan, it is her third consecutive Player of the Week award and the sixth of her career to become the second player in league history (Cappie Pondexter, 2009) to win three straight awards. Nolan averaged 20.7 points on 40.8 percent (20-49) shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists while leading the Shock to a 2-1 record.

Diane Taurasi won the WNBA scoring title (20.4 ppg), and Sue Bird had the most asssists (5.8 apg)
