Bulls approve partnership for 21 Spanish-language broadcasts
The Chicago Bulls and Univision radio station La Tremenda WRTO will team up to broadcast 21 home games for the 2009-10 season.
The association with WRTO (1200-AM) will tip-off with the Bulls home contest against the Charlotte Bobcats Nov. 7.
"We are very excited to be entering into this partnership with WRTO-AM," said Steve Schanwald, Bulls executive vice president of Business Operations. "The Chicago Bulls have a great many fans in Chicago's Hispanic community, and we want to reach out and extend to them the opportunity to listen to our games in Spanish."
Omar Ramos and Ozzie Guillen Jr., son of White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, will call the Bulls games on La Tremenda with Ramos serving as the play-by-play announcer and Guillen Jr. as the analyst.
For the past four seasons, Guillen Jr. and Ramos have been the voices of all White Sox Spanish radio broadcasts. Currently, Ramos also serves as the afternoon drive host for one of Univision Radio's top stations, 106.7-FM, and Guillen Jr. is the host of his own radio show, both in English and Spanish, on Sunday nights.
"We're looking forward to broadcasting these games in Spanish, to help build both the brands of the Bulls and the NBA, to the Chicago Hispanic community," said Jerry Ryan, senior vice president of Univision Radio.
The Bulls have several other initiatives geared toward Chicago's Hispanic community. The team will wear specially designed uniforms with "Los Bulls" branding at their March 12 game in Miami and their March 25 home game against Miami in tribute to their Hispanic fans. Additionally, the team's Web site, Bulls.com, can also be read in Spanish.
