Illinois seems to want seniors off the road

Recently, I, a senior citizen leaning toward 91, who has driven nationwide for 51 years without an accident (thanks to other drivers), failed because I did not remember the up and downhill rule, and for failing to signal in parking and drawing away from a curb in an undeveloped area of Schaumburg.

A question: Did the examiner have a right to quiz me? (There are no hills in the area to "use" for testing.) When one receives notice from the Secretary of State, the notice clearly states that one is to take either the written or the road test, not both in one examination. What recourse have I but to take another 40-45 minute ride?

If the thought occurs to you, as it did to me, that the state of Illinois would like to clear the street of seniors close to or over 90, I think we're "right on."
