Police: Other children may be victims of molestation

The possibility that a 19-year-old Wadsworth man accused of sexually assaulting two children might have committed crimes against others is being investigated by the Lake County sheriff's office.

Joseph A. Wojdyla of the 39000 block of Delany Road was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of manufacturing child pornography after a four-day investigation, according to a news release from the department Friday. He was arrested Thursday without incident, the statement said.

The crimes were against a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old.

"We have concerns that Mr. Wojdyla may have victimized other children," said Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran. "We encourage anyone who feels they were victimized by Wojdyla to contact our investigators."

The investigation began Tuesday when officers were told that Wojdyla possessed child pornography images on his cell phone.

Detectives learned that the phone had 10 images of the two children in sexually explicit positions. They also said Wojdyla had recently had sexual relations with the children. They are not related to him. No other suspects are being sought.

Wojdyla was being held on $250,000 bond with his next court date Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Lake County sheriff's office asked anyone with information to call Sgt. George Manis at (847) 377-4143.
