Deputy ruled justified in fatal shooting
ROCK ISLAND -- The Rock Island County State's Attorney Office says a Rock Island County sheriff's deputy who fatally wounded a Taylor Ridge man on Aug. 3 was justified in his actions.
State's Attorney Jeff Terronez said Friday that no charges are warranted against Jason Patterson.
Authorities say Patterson fired one bullet into Jack Roos' chest after he refused orders to drop the meat cleaver that he had used to cut his own throat.
