Carpentersville man charged with battery, accused of stabbing uncle
A 19-year-old Carpentersville man is behind bars Saturday at the Kane County jail, accused of stabbing his uncle during an alcohol-fueled fight late Friday night.
Gregory Johnson, of the 0-100 block of Oxford Drive, faces a charge of aggravated battery stemming from the incident that sent the 42-year-old victim to the hospital for treatment of what police called a non life-threatening injury.
Police Commander Tom Bosshart said the fight broke out at Johnson's home at about 11 p.m. Friday after the two had spent most of the day drinking together.
"During the fight, Gregory pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his uncle in the stomach," Bosshart said.
Johnson was arrested and appeared in court Saturday morning, where a judge set bond at $25,000. Unable to post the 10 percent needed to go free, Johnson remained in custody at the county jail pending another court appearance Tuesday.
The charge against him is a Class 3 felony punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison.
