North Central College romps over Benedictine 55-0
This was a college football game looking for a mercy rule.
North Central College romped to a 55-0 nonconference victory in Naperville over neighboring Benedictine University on Saturday night, piling up 549 total yards along the way.
Quarterback Aaron Fanthorpe ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for another to Hank Johnston, and running back Dominic Sulo ran for 3 more touchdowns as the Cardinals (1-1) breezed to a 42-0 halftime lead.
"We worked a lot this week on everyone doing their one-11th and doing their part on the field," Fanthorpe said. "It showed tonight, because we played really well together. The offensive line did a great job blocking up front. Dominic had a lot of holes to run through. We had great time in the pocket. Everything just worked out in our favor."
Fanthorpe added a second-half touchdown pass to Kyle Fiedorowicz.
North Central finished the scoring with a 96-yard touchdown run by Phillip Rossberg, setting a school record with the romp.
Benedictine fell to 0-2 on the season.
