$100,000 bond stays for accused pot farmer

A Kane County judge Thursday refused to reduce bond for a St. Charles Township man accused of growing marijuana in his home.

Timothy M. Dell, 29, has been held in the Kane County jail on $100,000 bond since his arrest last month after police seized nearly 100 cannabis plants at his residence on the 900 block of Lexington Avenue.

Judge James C. Hallock denied a request to lower the amount from Dell's attorney, who called it "excessive," "oppressive" and inconsiderate of his client's financial abilities.

Dell, who needs $10,000 to be released, is accused in an indoor marijuana-growing operation that police said turned up 96 plants in various stages of growth. He was arrested Aug. 26 after police carried out a search warrant.

Before that, Dell had numerous run-ins with the law, leading to convictions for burglary, resisting police, driving under the influence and drug paraphernalia possession, according to court records.

He's due back in court Sept. 28.
