Janus, Pothast pace Lake Zurich

Lake Zurich had no problem finding the net Tuesday.

John Pothast and Nick Janus each scored twice,as the Bears crushed Larkin 8-1 in pool play of the Pepsi Showdown.

Tim Kreutz had a goal and 3 assists for Lake Zurich (4-2), while Brett Harper tallied a goal and 2 assists. Jack Rathe and Brenden Seeger also scored. John Jordan had 2 assists as well.

Warren 3, Glenbrook North 3: The Blue Devils (1-2) got goals from Michael Szczepanek, Thiago Ganancio and Zack Nitch.

Prairie Ridge 1, Grayslake N. 0: The Knights fell to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in the Fox Valley Fox Division.

Loyola 3, Libertyville 2: The Wildcats lost in pool play of the Pepsi Showdown.

Round Lake 5, Westminster Christian 3: The Panthers won their first game of the year, as Gilberto Alfaro had 2 goals and an assist, while Jordi Rubio added a goal and an assist.

Round Lake (1-2-1), which trailed 2-0 with about 10 minutes gone in the match, also got goals from Carlos Salgado and Mauricio Salgado.
