Peavy threw a bullpen session, OK?
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was asked about Jake Peavy Sunday morning.
"He's having a nice breakfast or lunch," Guillen said.
Guillen is clearly tired of the endless questions about when - or if - Peavy is going to pitch this season. And after throwing off the mound before the White Sox lost to the Red Sox, Peavy stopped just short of apologizing for his long-running rehab.
"I'm as tired and frustrated with this as I'm sure you guys (media) are," Peavy said. "I want to get out there soon, so we'll see what happens."
Here's what happened Sunday: Peavy gave his sore right elbow a good test while throwing "50, 60" pitches in the bullpen.
"I feel a little bit," Peavy said when asked about any pain in his elbow. "I'd be lying if I told you I feel completely normal, but it's nothing crazy. I'm able to get some extension. We'll see where we're at. I think maybe I'll throw another one in a day or two and see if we can't get out there."
As long as the White Sox feel they have a shot to catch the first-place Tigers, Peavy is going to continue trying to come back from his latest injury. On Aug. 24, he was hit on the elbow by a line drive while making a rehab start for Class AAA Charlotte.
Peavy started again on Aug. 29 but had to exit after 31/3 innings when he felt discomfort.
When he was with the San Diego Padres, Peavy strained a tendon in his right ankle, landing him on the disabled list on June 9.
While he is understandably frustrated, Peavy was encouraged with Sunday's throwing session.
"Big improvement from the (Aug. 29) start I tried to make, just because we've had time and countless numbers of treatments," Peavy said. "Hopefully, we're on the right track now without any setbacks. With as crazy as this has been, who knows? I certainly would love to pitch soon.
"I threw all my pitches. I didn't turn it up to 100 percent, but I was letting it go and kind of gauged where I was. Things went well."
