Grayslake Central picks up home victory

Grayslake Central savored a home victory with a 27-0 victory over Woodstock North on Friday night.

"We made a lot of mistakes and we need to execute at higher rate," said Grayslake Central coach Nick Goshe. "Overall, it's a great first win at home in quite a while."

Grayslake Central scored 14 points in the first quarter. Quarterback Mike Gentile got the Rams on the board with 20-yard run to finish at 10-play drive.

Grayslake Central added a second TD with 1:20 left in the first as C.J. Stempeck caught a 42-yard strike from Gentile.

Vinny Culhane made it 20-0 with a 5-yard run with 7:59 left i nthe second quarter.

Kevin Hein's 85-yard fumble return with 3:45 before the half all but decided the game.

"I just took it and ran," said Hein. "It was all the burners, and I'm real fast."

Culhane led the Rams on the ground with 6 carries for 49 yards.
