Kane County

• Two electrical boxes owned by Comcast were knocked over and crushed in an apparent hit-and-run crash reported Wednesday at Russell Road and Verona Drive in Plato Township. Damage was estimated at $10,000, police said.

St. Charles

• Julie Beth Welch, 45, of the 100 block of Read Street in Elburn, was charged Saturday with retail theft, according to a police report. Store security at Meijer caught Welch in the parking lot of the store with numerous items she did not pay for including socks, shirts, a toothbrush and cat food totaling nearly $180.

• Daniel Paul Jabs, 27, of the 500 block of South Batavia Avenue in Batavia, was charged Aug. 18 with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report. Police in an unmarked car observed Jabs leaving a tavern in St. Charles and stumbling almost sideways to get into his truck then drive through a stop sign. Police stopped Jabs and found him unable to pass a field sobriety test.

• Theodore Justin Psichalinos, 50, a homeless man, was charged Aug. 17 with disorderly conduct/public drunkenness, according to a police report. He was discovered by police yelling obscenities at the north edge of Langum Park near a residence. Police found Psichalinos lying in the grass of the park near the home, apparently trying to sleep. Psichalinos told police he was yelling at kids in the house to be quiet because he was trying to sleep. Psichalinos was banned from all St. Charles Park District properties.

Geneva

• Six vehicles were burglarized in a business parking lot in the 1800 block of Averill Road between 2 and 10 p.m. Aug. 28, police said. The burglar broke windows on four of them, and entered a pickup truck through an open sliding rear window; the sixth was unlocked. Five stereos, two wallets, an iPod and $120 were taken.

• A Viking Emerald 183 sewing machine was stolen from Joann Fabric Store between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
