Carpentersville man denies child rape charges
A 38-year-old Carpentersville man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he molested and raped two girls.
Teodolfo Salcedo-Vazquez, of the 0-100 block of Hickory Drive, was arraigned in Kane County Circuit Court on two counts each of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse at a hearing before Judge Allen M. Anderson.
Authorities say Salcedo-Vazquez assaulted the girls, who were younger than 18, on April 10, 2007. The accusations surfaced a little more than two years later, as police investigated at reported battery at his residence. Police said he knew the victims.
The most serious charge against Salcedo-Vazquez is a Class 1 felony with a possible prison sentence of up to 15 years.
He remained in the Kane County jail Thursday, unable to post 10 percent of a $505,000 bond. His next court date is Oct. 16.
