Police seek man who robbed Gurnee gas station

Gurnee police are releasing photos from the security system at a gas station that was robbed on Friday in hopes that someone will recognize the suspect.

The Shell gas station on the 6000 block of West Grand Avenue was robbed shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday. A man approached the counter and asked the attendant to open the cash drawer, then shoved what appeared to be a gun at the attendant after he was hesitant to open the drawer, police said. Police said the man grabbed the money from the drawer, ran out of the gas station and across the parking lot. Nobody else was in the gas station at the time and the attendant was not injured.

Gurnee police searched the area but could not find the suspect.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He was wearing a brown hat, sunglasses, white polo shirt and khaki pants, white athletic shoes and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information should contact the Gurnee Police Department at (847) 599-7000 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
