Fox names new GM for 2 stations
Fox has named Michael Renda vice president and general manager of its Chicago stations, WFLD Channel 32 and WPWR Channel 50.
Renda has worked his way up the corporate ladder as the head of Fox-network affiliate stations in Philadelphia and Cleveland. He has a background in sales, working early in his career in Chicago for Storer Television Sales. He replaces Patrick Mullen, who wasn't able to make the local Fox affiliates as profitable as was hoped.
"Mike has proven over the last 12 years that he is a strong general manager who knows what it takes to build a market-leading station," said Jack Abernathy, chief executive officer of Fox Television Stations. "This, along with his ability to foster strong news talent and develop compelling local newscasts, will be valuable as we look to strengthen our Chicago duopoly."
